About Crossroads Burmese

Crossroads Burmese have been our way of life since 2015. Our first litter was born in 2016. Burmese are beloved family members for us. Their well-being and health are the most important things to us.

Our Goal

Our goal is to breed healthy, good-natured Burmese that fulfill the breed standard. Our Burmese live with us “under foot”, move freely inside our house and on the glazed balcony and interact with our whole family. A Burmese cat will be there with you 24/7 and demands your attention and love at all times. They are very devoted to their human parents.

Kittens

We have 1-2 litters per year in the cattery. Kittens are ready to move to thei new forever homes at the age of 14-16 weeks. They are vaccinated and wormed, checked by our veterinarian, microchipped and registered to Fifé. New families are chosen according to the personality and features of the kitten. We do not take preliminary reservations during pregnancy. We do not take deposits or keep a waiting list at the moment. The most important thing for or us is that the new home is committed to their little family member. The price of a kitten is on average 1,300 – 1,600 euros.

Our Burmese have veterinary reviews annually and are boosted and wormed regularly. All breeding Burmese are genetically tested for GM2 (gangliosidosis), HK (hypokalemia) and BHD (Burmese Head Defect) and are FeLV/FIV negative. In addition we test our breeding Burmese for genetic diversity (heterozygosity), color trait, and blood group. Our cats have breeding insurance, and we require pet insurance from the new owner.

All Crossroads kittens are registered to the Finnish Cat Association (Suomen Kissaliitto), a member of Fifé. They move to their new homes with an official pedigree. The registered cat’s information can be found on the Omakissa web portal, where the buyer creates his/her own account. All our Burmese can also be found at Pawpeds.com breed database, letting you follow their traits to the very first Burmese, Wong Mai, born in Myanmar in 1930. We add the new owner as a gift member to Burmakissan ystävät ry. (BKY) for the first year, unless there is a previous membership. Through BKY, you get the magazine Burmaposti delivered 3 times a year. A nice way to become a part of the Finnish Burmese Cat lovers’ community. All kittens get a welcome home -package with them containing familiar foods and some toys. A sales contract is drawn up, and we both agree on the terms of sale.

Staying in touch

We are happy to help and support if there is interest in exhibition activities. We will go to the exhibition the first time and in the future always if the schedules match. Most of our kittens spend their entire lives without going near feline judges – and that is fine too 🙂 The most important thing is that kittens get a loving home where it is safe to live. Our kittens must not be left outside the house unsupervised. We only sell them as INDOOR CATS. We accept supervised outdoor activities, e.g. in a shelter, in a harness or on a cat/balcony that is netted. Your kitten will move home with personalized care and feeding instructions. We guide and help if the new home is interested in breeding. Breeding lease is a good way to get the support from an experienced breeder when taking your first steps as a cat breeder. Both male and female Burmese can be sold with an agreed breeding plan.

I enjoy working with other Burmese breeders in Finland and internationally, and I’m willing to share my lines. If you are purchasing a kitten for breeding, you are awaited to share lines with us in turn. Breeding is about co-operation and supporting each other, not a one-way street.
