About Crossroads Burmese

Crossroads Burmese have been our way of life since 2015. Our first litter was born in 2016. Burmese are beloved family members for us. Their well-being and health are the most important things to us.

Our Goal

Our goal is to breed healthy, good-natured Burmese that fulfill the breed standard. Our Burmese live with us “under foot” and interact with our family’s daily routines. A Burmese cat will be there with you 24/7 and demands your attention and love at all times. They are very devoted to their human parents.

Kittens

Kittens are ready to move to their new forever homes at the age of 14-16 weeks. They are fully vaccinated and checked by a veterinarian. They are microchipped and registered to Fifé. New families are chosen according to the personality and features of the kitten. We do not take preliminary reservations during pregnancy. We do not take deposits or keep a waiting list at the moment. The most important thing for or us is that the new home is committed to their little family member. The price of a kitten is on average 1,300 – 1,600 euros.

Our Burmese have veterinary reviews annually. All breeding Burmese are genetically tested for GM2 (gangliosidosis), HK (hypokalemia) and BHD (Burmese Head Defect) and are FeLV/FIV negative. In addition we test our breeding Burmese for genetic diversity (heterozygosity), color trait, and blood group. Our cats have breeding insurance, and we strongly recommend pet insurance for the new owner.

All Crossroads kittens are registered to the Finnish Cat Association (Suomen Kissaliitto), a member of Fifé. All kittens have an official pedigree. The pedigrees and health data of all our Burmese can be found in the Omakissa web portal. All our Burmese can also be found at pawpeds.com which is a pedigree database run by volunteers. This will let you follow your kitten’s trait to the very first Burmese, Wong Mai, born in Myanmar in 1930. All kittens get a welcome home -package containing familiar foods, care instructions and some toys. A sales contract is drawn up, and we both agree on the terms of sale.

Staying in touch

We are happy to help and support if there is interest in exhibition activities. Most of our kittens spend their entire lives without encountering feline judges – and that is fine too 🙂 The most important thing is that the kitten get a loving home. Our kittens must not be left outside unsupervised. We only sell kittens as INDOOR CATS. We accept supervised outdoor activities, e.g. in a shelter, in a harness or on a catio/balcony that is safe. Your kitten will move home with personalized care and feeding instructions. We guide and help if the new home is interested in breeding in Fife. Breeding lease is a good way to get the support from an experienced breeder when taking your first steps as a cat breeder. Both male and female Burmese can be sold with an agreed breeding plan. If your kitten is a male, we warmly encourage you not to neuter him too early. Cat dads are much appreciated and a pet kitten can make an important contribution for our breed.

I enjoy working with other Burmese breeders in Finland and internationally, and I’m willing to occasionally share my lines. If you are purchasing a kitten for breeding, you are awaited to share lines with us in turn. Breeding is about co-operation and supporting each other, not a one-way street.
